Can you get student loans with bad credit?

Bad credit is the bane of absolutely anyone who is trying to obtain a loan, and people trying to get a student loan are faced with the same problem. If you are applying for a private loan, you will either need to have a good credit line or a cosignor with a good credit history; otherwise, you have very little hope of making this happen. But not all is lost for the loan applicant with bad credit. You can always turn to federal loans for help. Federal loans, such as the Stafford student loan, are perfect for the student with poor or no credit. The subsidized and unsubsidized versions of the loan are available to everybody. Don't forget to check any grants or scholarships that don't require any credit checks; you may be missing out on these. Bad credit is not necessarily a hindrance for anyone who wants an opportunity to pay for a college education; a little research is all it takes.
